On our second visit to the mighty overlord of Bastion Stairs the Rigante down Skull Lord Var'lthrok.
Fun fight, and a good challenge.
Dropped Chosen chest piece and an AWESOME sorceror staff.

A very big axe - This guy is freaking huge, while tanking him all I could see was his hoof, which took up most the screen.

Nice work guys, typical that i wasnt there, i am assuming that its a lot easier with 2 healers :P

Were the tactics to beat him difficult ?

I will be looking to have a crack at him soon :)

He was pretty much tank & spank to be honest.
1) He has a ridiculous knockback and a frontal cleave, so tank him with your back to a wall and everyone else stand to his sides.
2) He spawns fleshhounds periodically throughout the fight, stop DPSing to kill them when he does.
3) He has a ground targetted AE, move out of it.

He does hit very hard though, and pretty quickly I don't think it would be possible without 2 healers.

That Skull Lord sure doesn't like me :(
Downed me 5 times in the last run, damn aggro
Really challenging fight this, one of the most exciting encounters i've had so far
Just a shame you have to go through that annoyingly long PQ first
