After every bad event associated with something a bereaved mum springs into action to start a society against it. It's just what happens. Wouldn't be suprised if this was begun by one of the mothers who's child was killed in the Columbine incident a few years back by kids who played FPS games a lot. Another bereaved mother has started a movement to ban air guns after her toddler was killed by an air rifle.

While I don't neccessarily agree with their goals I can see exactly why these kind of movements spring up.

yes and the sniper ontop of a roof in new york 6 years ago got 5 months and the media blamed that video games were his influence, not the 3 year sharpshooting training he had chosen in the military

I saw an interesting interview on what might have been Bowling for Columbine, where the interviewee suggested that the media itself could be at least partly responsible for people going out and killing by making the folks that do famous. They assign these killers "catchphrases" for example; the trenchcoat mafia. He said that all that kind of things encourages someone who is inclined towards such an act to go ahead and "make his name".

It is interesting how people point the blame at everyone but themselves.
