Hey guys you probably won't see me for a while. My PC is in bad shape
as i knew would happen. Heres my problem if any of you PC wizards fancy helping me.

I have a partitioned hard drive with 2 partitions. I formatted both
partitions and run the XP setup. Setup was running fine until it got to
the option where you select the partition you want to install it.
Instead of getting 2 options i got none and when i pressed enter to
carry on the setup i got ablue wall of death message

I have updated my bios, have run a memory check program. I tried to run FDisk to remove the partitions but that too crashed. The problem seems to refer to hardware issues but my PC was running fine on Windows 98, 30 mins before this setup. Here is the blue screen message.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file : setupdd.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Technical info
STOP : 0x00000050 (0xE533C040, 0x00000000, 0xF84C4F3E, 0x00000002)

Every work around for the errors i have been getting suggested that it was ram related. Im pretty sure thats rubish though as i have tested each bank separetly and still get the same error. The bios also shows the exact amount and i have run a windows memory ram analyser proggie which didn'tfind any faults. I presonally think it's something to do with the partitions as i can't run Fdisk to clear them. It crashes each time i try. Also in the setup where you can usually choose between the partitions it says it cannot find them and when you press enter to continue the install you get the blue screen i dexscribed.

Im gonna try another hard disk but not ure if i have any working ones. The one in my old PC died on me last week and i have another one thats been sitting on a shelf for about 6 years so god knows if that willwork...]

Anyone have any ideas on how i can clear the partions on my hard disk without running Fdisk?

Quite easy for your partitions Littles as you say youve another PC : make you hd a secondary one in other PC and do the job in GUI mode for instance.

Or make a linux boot disk and use *X fdisk (be VERY VERY cautious with this one).

For the life of me I failt to see why ppl partition their disks, but I guess its a matter of opinion.

There are some better utilities out there other than fdisk (feckdisk). Heres one: http://www.masterbooter.com this will see thru any and all partitions you may or may not have set up.

Looks like its a problem with your memory :(

However, i had a BSOD when building my brothers PC with XP - a replacement HDD resolved that problem and the box has been up and running for some time - so I would start there.

Addiitionaly remove any hardware out of the machine disbale LAN and Sound and any other peripheral jsut keep the bare bases , see if XP installs then.
